Genba workshop in HUF Poland
There is nothing finer to see at Genba than an engaged team developing themselves whilst delivering results through problem-solving, supported by Sensei Genba Coaching leaders.
That is exactly what I saw at Huf Polska this week.
Strong visual management, yamazumi charts next to cells, Andon responders with a smile.
When organisations strive for excellence, they reflect on the Four Stages of the Organizational Development model and the Two-Wheel concept.
I learn’t these directly from my Toyota Sensei coach – undeniable and indispensable World-Class Thinking and Doing, in TPS-Lean. Best thing since sliced bread (English saying).
Thank you, CEO & COO Dirk Fischer, Vice President Operations Strategy, Performance and Digitalization Lukasz Paluch, and Plant Director Operations Mariusz Prokop
Huf Polska’s commitment to operational excellence was clearly on display, as the plant recently won the Huf Production System Award 2024, a recognition of outstanding performance in implementing lean principles, driving process optimizations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
👍 Andon is not just a tool. It’s much more of a mindset/culture
👍 Mendomi: We take care of employees like a family
👍 We don’t get paid to have an opinion. We are paid to make decisions based on facts (not just data). That’s why verification at the Gemba is an absolute must!
👍 Planned maintenance time should not be deducted from operating time. Planned maintenance work is also a “loss” in the end, which must be continuously reduced, but of course without affecting the availability of the equipment
👍 Hansei: Frequent and structured reflection is a great source of shared learning.
👍 Habit Nr 1 Hansei – the habit of self-reflection that leads to Kaizen, its explained in the book.
👍 Developing people through problem-solving leads to business development really resonated with me.
👍 Empowering teams to think, learn, and improve drives much more than just improvements – it builds the culture.
👍 Visual tools, the 1-3-10 rule for shopfloor boards provides clear guidance on how to do it right.
Finally, my book, Genba Ikigai – Leading to Serve, shares many subtle habits, and much more found in Sensei Genba coaching of leaders.Pokaż tłumaczenie
