#Lean trilogy and production planning

Dear #CEO
What does #lean#trilogy and #productionplanning have in common !
👉I will focus only on the ubiquitous and undervalued Sales & Operational Planning role and how this relates to the tripartite relationship between #shareholders#employees and #customers

👀During an #enterprise#growth#strategy where you are using #lean#transformation as your commanding philosophy, supported by your #hoshin & #kanri for #deployment of your #vision#values and #goals you will want to have a win-win-win approach.

💪 This means #leadership needs to finely balance the needs of all three #stakeholders. No one side can be preferred over the others.
💪 Clearly there are other stakeholders, but allow me to just focus on the #trilogy example.
💪 Let me also bring in two fundamental conditions for success, embedded in #tps which you should always employ in any lean type improvement #kaizen program, anyway.
💪#safety#quality#delivery and #costs usually written as SQDC and in that specific order. (See previous posts on this one) and
💪Business progress through People development in identifying non-value activities and #problemsolving as an over arching principle to #continuousimprovement
🍒 The last two points are so fundamental to whatever we might imagine lean to be, they need to be studied and understood in great depth.
👀Our planning team should be an independent and over-arching #conductor of the sales, production and purchasing departments.
👀 Maybe I should say the chief planner is the #protagonist, the leading character in all this , why do you ask, well here are some of my reasons:
👍Planning needs to ensure the timely and accurate synchronisation of a well set out delivery schedule from sales aka #customers,
👍#materials and #parts need to be available and production #leadtimes, customer #takt time, #process#cycletime known as well as machine and line capacity and availability formulated.
👍Our #S&OP protagonist needs to ensure employees don’t suffer any Safety (S) issues due to overburden of work #muri and
👍clients receive orders of the right Quality (Q) and then as a third factor receive them on-time (D).
👍 Finally, last in line is Cost (C) which means things like how do we manage #overtime#inventory turns, #operating#profit. Finally #ebitda , just to mention a few KPI here.
🍒 Clearly, our Protagonist Planner is not alone, but I am stressing just one point, Planning is a #science based on #facts , often planning is treated as an #abstract#art form. Seldom reflecting reality at #genba.
🍒Your #lean#trilogy depends on many factors, one of these is your Strategic Planner for S&OP.
